Student Composers Recital

Every semester, JMU has one or two Student Composers Recitals that showcases its composition students’ works.

~ April 27, 2026 ~

The first two movements of Mikayla’s Sonata for Flute and Piano premiered at this recital. The piece was performed by Michael Discenza (flute), and Jeanette Gilson (piano).

~May 6, 2025~

Mikayla performed her own piece, “When I Do Count the Clock,” along with soprano Katy Lange. The text for this piece was taken from William Shakespeare’s 12th sonnet.
