When the Moon Met the Sea (2025)

“When the Moon Met the Sea” is a piece about second chances and new beginnings.

This piece is a remake of an old piece of mine. I composed the original piece in 2022, but that was when I was still starting out with composition, so it wasn’t very good. I liked the concept, but not how I executed it. When I gained more experience, I had the idea to improve the old piece, and this idea of second chances and new beginnings snuck its way into the music. Three years later, “When the Moon Met the Sea” won JMU’s New Music for Orchestra composition competition and premiered at JMU’s Spring String Thing.

When the moon meets the sea, the night is gone, and a new day dawns in its place.
